Perspective

An Aircraft Carrier is approximately $6 billion. For the price of this bailout (assuming it stays at only 700 billion) we could have built about 116 aircraft carriers. Each of which could house about 5500 people. So added together we could haul over 600,000 people out in the middle of the Pacific where they can't hurt anyone. Hmmm, According to Wikipedia the population of Washington DC is 591,833.... I think you can see where I'm going with this idea...

As it was, is now and ever shall be

Last night I was watching the news. I know it doesn't happen often but they where showing Israel blowing stuff up so I stopped to watch for a few minutes. They then say that the UN had also just passed a cease fire resolution. I turn to my wife and say "Israel will tell the UN to kiss their a**" Then this morning I see this
Israel, Hamas brush off U.N. cease-fire resolution
"The state of Israel has never agreed that any outside body would determine its right to defend the security of its citizens. The IDF will continue operations in order to defend Israeli citizens and will carry out the missions with which it has been assigned in the operation," Olmert said.

Shortly after the Security Council vote, Hamas also rejected the resolution, ...
The resolution "does not serve our interests nor that of the people of Palestine," said Hamas ... "It does not take into account the aspirations and the principal objectives of the Palestinian people."

The UN reminds me of a crazy old uncle, spouting off irrelevant comments in the corner that every one ignores. Well everyone but the news who is like a 5 year old that think the uncle is scary and important.

The new world order

Now that the Democrats are in power I predict that what was always wrong will magically become right; what was evil will become good; what was a fatal bug will now be seen as a feature
Case in point; from proponent democratic owned and operated Huffington Post.
Mr. Gore has stated, regarding climate change, that "the science is in." Well, he is absolutely right about that, except for one tiny thing. It is the biggest whopper ever sold to the public in the history of humankind.
He then goes on to give a very nice summery (backed up by real science) of what the anti global warming scientist have been saying for years. Now that they are expected to do something about it... Poof! You don't have to worry about global warming anymore. As soon as it becomes politically useful it will become a problem again. So if they want to take control of something it will be used as a reason but don't expect them to change anything.
